It has emerged that in the Sinan Ateş assassination, which has been a subject of public debate for a long time, the gunman Eray Özyağcı had 7 criminal records, while the instigator Doğan Çep had 20.

According to Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz, at the time of the assassination, gunman Eray Özyağcı was wanted for seven crimes, instigator Doğan Çep for 20, lookout Suat Kurt for one, and Vedat Balkaya, who helped the gunman escape by motorcycle, for one. Both Özyağcı and Çep had active arrest warrants for murder.
Stating that the “list of crimes is extensive,” Saymaz wrote, “Murder, assault, managing a criminal organization, drug use and trafficking, snatch theft, extortion, robbery, livestock theft, counterfeiting, migrant smuggling, and sexual harassment.”
