Strip-search scandal in IMM investigation!

The allegations regarding the treatment of Fatoş Pınar Türker, General Manager of Medya AŞ, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), during her detention have sparked significant backlash. Türker, who has been in custody since March 23, had her lawyers claim that she was subjected to unlawful treatment and a strip search during the detention process. Türker's lawyers have filed an individual application with the Constitutional Court (AYM), requesting an end to her detention.

According to the lawyers' petition, Fatoş Pınar Türker's passport was confiscated on March 13 while she was attempting to travel abroad. Türker attempted to provide a statement by applying to the prosecutor's office on March 14, 15, and 18, but her statement was not taken. It is alleged that Türker, who was detained on March 19 as part of the same investigation, was held for 4 days in a place referred to as a "storage room."

ALLEGATIONS OF STRIP SEARCH AND UNLAWFUL TREATMENT

The lawyers stated that a strip search was conducted on Türker during the detention process. Asserting that the detention conditions were contrary to human rights, the lawyers argued that Türker's detention continues unlawfully. Furthermore, the allegations include claims that the lawyers' petitions were ignored, decisions were not served in a timely manner, and she was deprived of legal counsel.

It was stated that the continued detention of Fatoş Pınar Türker, who was arrested on charges related to tenders at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is disproportionate given that the evidence has already been collected. Türker's lawyers have demanded that her detention be terminated as soon as possible.

DEMAND FOR 100 THOUSAND LIRA COMPENSATION

The lawyers have requested 100 thousand TL in non-pecuniary damages to address the grievances suffered by their client, Fatoş Pınar Türker. It was argued that the injustices Türker experienced must be compensated not only legally but also morally.

SUPPORT FROM CHP'S TEKIN

During the "Defending the National Will" rally organized by the CHP on March 23 for Presidential candidate and IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the experiences of Pınar Türker were addressed following a speech by CHP Istanbul Deputy Gürsel Tekin. Information regarding Fatoş Pınar Türker's detention and arrest process was shared at the rally. Tekin stated that the grievance experienced by Türker constitutes an important example for the realization of justice.
