Şükrü Genç says he spoke with Özgür Özel, sets a time
Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç had issued a statement after not being re-nominated by the CHP, requesting that the decision be reviewed by the CHP leadership. In his latest social media post, Genç noted, "Our voice has been heard."
As the crisis-ridden candidate selection process within the CHP comes to an end, some figures who were not nominated have rebelled against the CHP leadership.
Leading those figures, current Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç had sent a message to his party giving them until February 18 to "review the decision." Having previously signaled that he could run as an independent candidate, Genç made a new post pointing to February 20.

Şükrü Genç used the following expressions on his social media account:
"I had called on my party to re-evaluate the process in response to the mistake made regarding the candidate selection process in Sarıyer. I had expressed my concerns by saying, 'It is a pity for Sarıyer, we are losing.'

I made these statements because I care about the Republican People's Party and Sarıyer.
Our voice has been heard! Following the conversation we had after a call from our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, we have decided to work on the matter and wait until 12:00 on February 20.

Our concern is not the seat, but our people. I insistently repeat that I will announce the result of this meeting in front of the Sarıyer Municipality Main Building tomorrow at exactly 12:00, and that I will not accept anything without the approval of my people. Everything is for Sarıyer!"
