A critical summit took place in Ankara ahead of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress, which will be held this weekend. CHP chairmanship candidate Özgür Özel and CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik appeared before the cameras following their meeting.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik has delivered the signatures of 185 out of 196 elected Istanbul delegates to CHP Chairmanship Candidate Özgür Özel.

Stating that 185 elected delegates are standing with Özel, Çelik said, "In Istanbul, 185 of the 196 elected congress delegates have signed for Mr. Özgür Özel as a candidate for party chair. This will is not just the will of Istanbul's 185 congress delegates.

This will is also the will of the people of Istanbul. We see very clearly in Istanbul that there is a demand for change on the streets, in the field, at schools, and at work," he said.

Ahead of the CHP Congress to be held this weekend, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik delivered the signatures of the 185 delegates he gathered to CHP Chairmanship Candidate Özgür Özel in Ankara this evening. After delivering the signatures, Çelik made a statement alongside Özel. In his speech, Çelik stated that they had been in constant meetings with the delegates following the Istanbul Provincial Congress, and expressed the following:

"We said that after the provincial congress took place, we would evaluate the process with our elected congress delegates. We said we would make an assessment in constant communication and determine how Istanbul's will would emerge at the Congress through democratic methods.

After the Istanbul Congress, we held two major meetings with our 196 elected congress delegates. One of these was an introductory meeting. The other was an evaluation meeting."

"THEY DESCRIBED THE CHANGE"

Underlining that the demand for change came to the fore in the meetings, Çelik said, "In the evaluation meeting we held with all of the Istanbul congress delegates, in the meeting where we had an open floor, all our congress delegates who took the floor, that is, all the congress delegates who took the podium to speak, clearly and explicitly described the change.
