Surprise move from MHP: Two members expelled from the party
MHP Istanbul Provincial Board Member Yasin Sönmez and Bayrampaşa District Member Emin Sönmez, who were detained as part of an operation targeting the Bayrampaşa Municipality, have been expelled from the party following the completion of the disciplinary process for which they were referred with a request for permanent expulsion.
Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu had been detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Within the scope of the same operation, detention warrants were also issued for MHP Istanbul Provincial Board Member Yasin Sönmez and MHP Bayrampaşa District Member Emin Sönmez.
Following these developments, MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın announced that a disciplinary process had been initiated against the two individuals with a request for permanent expulsion. Yalçın's statement emphasized that the party's disciplinary mechanism would be operated swiftly.
THEY HAVE BEEN EXPELLED FROM THE PARTY
The MHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency announced today that the process has been completed. The statement included the following remarks:
“Disciplinary proceedings against Provincial Board Member Yasin Sönmez and Bayrampaşa District Member Emin Sönmez were initiated on 13.09.2025 with a request for permanent expulsion and precautionary measures, and the process has been concluded.”
