Former Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy chairman Eren Erdem announced in a statement on his social media account that he has ended his active political life. Erdem stated that he made this decision independently of any individuals, institutions, or processes.
Erdem stated that he would not accept any office or title offered to him by any political entity, saying, "I declare in advance that I am not seeking and will not undertake any political office or title that may be offered to me."

Erdem stated that he is turning to activities outside of politics, saying, "For the service of humanity, I am occupied with activities that I believe will be more beneficial than the political agenda today, such as publishing, broadcasting, social research, and writing books." He also added that he is not following current events and is not interested in polemics.
Eren Erdem stated that he made this announcement as a collective response due to the large number of messages he received.
