Surprising new party statement from Bahçeli: 'Treasury aid should be distributed according to the number of deputies'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli commented on Özgür Özel's announcement that a new party would be formed, saying, "Treasury aid should be distributed according to the number of deputies."

Making evaluations to journalists at the MHP Headquarters, Devlet Bahçeli commented on the new party.

The MHP leader said, "A new party is emerging from within the CHP. There have been signals of this for a long time, and various lists are being published in the public eye regarding how many deputies will leave. Some say 80, some say 90, but ultimately a new party is being established. Besides this, another topic of discussion, as you have also expressed, is how the assets will be divided."

Bahçeli stated, "Since a new party is emerging from within the CHP and the assets owned by the CHP, such as buildings and official vehicles, remain with the current party, in such a situation; it would be ethical for a share of the 1 billion 815 million liras paid to the CHP from the treasury in 2026 to be transferred to the new party in proportion to the number of deputies who leave the CHP to join it."
