The People's Alliance candidate for the upcoming election at the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) has been finalized. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın will compete on behalf of the People's Alliance at the extraordinary council meeting to be held on Thursday, October 15.
The new election process at the TBB began following the arrest of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer. Following the previous arrests of elected Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, a new election for the deputy presidency has been placed on the agenda.
The extraordinary council meeting will be held at 14.30 at the InterContinental Grand Ankara Hotel in Ankara. The meeting will initiate the election process, which is considered critical for the TBB administration.
Following the announcement of his candidacy, Büyükakın shared a post on his social media account, thanking those who sent messages of support.
Thank you very much for your kind wishes and valuable support, my dear President. As the People's Alliance, we will continue to work shoulder to shoulder and produce services for both our Kocaeli and our country in unity and solidarity.
