Taner Demirer, whom Akşener raised his hand calling him a potential 'Minister of Health', has resigned

In the IYI Party, following the poor results obtained after the local elections, Chairwoman Meral Akşener first decided to hold a Congress and then announced that she would not be a candidate. Most recently, the party's Deputy Chairman and Head of Health Policies Prof. Dr. Taner Demirer has resigned.

Demirer announced his resignation on social media with the following words:

"EVEN THOUGH SHE RAISED MY HAND AS MINISTER OF HEALTH..."

"Brave soldiers of the movement of the Good and the brave,

My dear IYI Party brothers and sisters,

As you know, I first served as the deputy chairman of Social Policies in our party, and subsequently, I was elected as a GIK (General Administrative Board) member at our ordinary congress. I was appointed to the presidential council by our Chairwoman as the Deputy Chairman responsible for Health Policies. I worked with all my heart for my party both in my party and in my constituency, Yozgat. During my time at the IYI Party, I met the clean-hearted, patriotic, brave soldiers of the movement of the Good and the brave from every corner of Anatolia. I made many new friends. In addition to learning a lot in the name of politics, I also gained important experiences. Although I came in first by a wide margin in the primary election held in Yozgat during the general elections, in which 75% of our delegates participated, by receiving 70% of the votes, I was not made a candidate and suffered a great injustice, but I was proud of this trust that our delegates bestowed upon me. Subsequently, although our Chairwoman raised my hand as the health minister of the potential cabinet at the Yozgat rally, this process unfortunately did not result as desired."

"THEY IGNORED THE WIN-WIN STRATEGY"

I supported the cooperation proposal brought by CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and his staff before the local elections at our GIK meeting and defended the 'yes' to cooperation with all my heart, but I remained in the minority. Unfortunately, most of our party's GIK members ignored the 'win-win' strategy, which is an important principle of modern politics, at that meeting of historical importance. The result we received in the local elections, which we entered freely and independently, remained far below the expectations of both our party's authorized bodies and our organizations. The fact that our Chairwoman decided to hold an extraordinary congress after the local elections and announced that she would not be a candidate at the congress, while being her own discretion, has unfortunately been an important breaking point for our party. The IYI Party, which aimed to be a center party and achieved significant successes in 6 years, has not only lost altitude rapidly with the strategic mistakes made in both general and local elections, but has also rapidly moved away from the goal of being a center party, which is the expectation of the Turkish Nation, with the policies and rhetoric it has followed. At this point, I am ending my IYI Party membership and resigning from all my duties in the party. I wish our Chairwoman, Ms. Meral Akşener, that everything goes as she wishes in her future life. I wish success to my dear friends who are candidates for the chairmanship at the extraordinary congress. I will never forget the beautiful memories brought by walking with you, my IYI Party brothers and sisters. I sincerely thank everyone I worked with during this time. May your path be clear."
