Tayyar makes 'tape and blackmail' claim regarding İdris Naim Şahin

Following the summoning of former Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin to testify as part of an investigation into the organization known publicly as the "Süleymancılar," former AK Party MP Şamil Tayyar made a notable statement.

In the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is alleged that one of the vehicles with flashing lights allocated to Şahin was used in an escape attempt by Hilmi Tuna Kuriş, the imprisoned brother of the Süleymancılar leader Alihan Kuriş. In this context, it was decided to seek Şahin's testimony.

Following the decision, Şamil Tayyar made a statement on his social media account, noting that he found the prosecutor's office's move "late but correct." Tayyar claimed that three vehicles with flashing lights allocated to Şahin were used for purposes other than their intended use and reiterated the allegation that one of the vehicles was used in the attempt to help Hilmi Tuna Kuriş escape.

The most striking part of Tayyar's statement was his assessment regarding the process of Şahin's departure from the AK Party. Tayyar stated, "I hope this serves as an opportunity for Şahin to clarify the 'tape' allegations that caused him to break away from the AK Party. If he was subjected to blackmail, it would be beneficial for him to face it, even if it is years later."

Tayyar also recalled the words used by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Şahin in 2019, "he has let his coattails be caught by terrorist organizations," and commented on whether the process would lead to new developments, saying, "Let's see, will any surprises emerge from this interrogation?"
