Tensions rise at CHP congress: Kılıçdaroğlu supporter Seyfettin Artantaş turns out to be a former AKP member!

The highly anticipated 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP) has begun at the Ankara Sports Hall.

The election for the party chairmanship will be held on the first day of the congress. On the second day, members of the Party Assembly and the High Disciplinary Board will be elected.

TENSIONS RISE IN THE HALL

During the congress, the speech by Seyfettin Artantaş, who supports Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, was protested by those favoring change. While Artantaş was speaking, chants of “Özgür for Chairman” were heard from the hall.

TURNS OUT TO BE A FORMER AKP MEMBER

On the other hand, it has emerged that Seyfettin Artantaş, who supports Kılıçdaroğlu, is a former AKP member. Artantaş had announced his candidacy for the AKP Iğdır Central District Presidency in 2014.

In his 2014 candidacy announcement, Artantaş had stated the following;

"As the Artantaş family, we are a family that has served the people of Iğdır in every era. There is no discrimination or racism in our understanding of service, kindness, friendship, and unity. For us, what is essential is to serve our city and the distinguished people of our city. I aspired to this duty because I thought I could provide this service within the AK Party. Politics is an indispensable part of democracy. The interest shown by our people since the moment I announced my candidacy for the AK Party Central District presidency election, which will be held in a democratic environment, has pleased me greatly. If God wills and I am elected, I will follow up on the problems of all the people of Iğdır, and we will contribute to our party's success by working intensively to increase the AK Party's votes."
