Tensions rise between Ümit Özdağ and Ahmet Davutoğlu: 'You are small, but you shouldn't have stooped this low'

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ reacted sharply to comments made about him by Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu during a television program he attended. In a statement on his social media account, Özdağ invited Davutoğlu to a face-to-face debate on television.

"YOU COULDN'T EVEN STAND BEHIND YOUR OWN WORDS"

Recalling previous allegations Davutoğlu had made about him, Ümit Özdağ said, "Ahmet Davutoğlu, you previously made a similar indecent slander, claiming 'Ümit Özdağ took lessons from MOSSAD.' I then took you to court."

Regarding the court process, Özdağ stated, "In my petition, I requested that the court write to all intelligence units of the Republic of Turkey and ask, 'Does Ümit Özdağ have any relationship with MOSSAD or any other foreign service?' What did your lawyer answer, Ahmet Davutoğlu? He said, 'Ahmet Davutoğlu did not mean Ümit Özdağ.' You couldn't even stand behind your own words. Following this, the case was dropped. And your lawyer demanded attorney fees from me. The court records are there for all to see."

"YOU ARE SMALL, BUT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE STOOPED THIS LOW"

Responding to Davutoğlu's criticisms regarding his academic identity, Özdağ said, "Ahmet Davutoğlu, you are small, but I wish you hadn't stooped this low. Davutoğlu, if you have an ounce of courage, come and debate me on any TV channel you want."

In his statement, Özdağ also referred to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying, "My life has been spent fighting Erdoğan and his policies. However, Erdoğan, whom you fawned over for years, kicked you to the curb. And now, without shame, you are trying to return to the AK Party by fawning over Erdoğan again with the votes you received from patriotic CHP voters. Because you are a nobody in politics. Your party has no support among the public."

"DON'T BE AFRAID, COME LET'S DEBATE ON TV"

Extending an open invitation to Davutoğlu, Özdağ reiterated his call, saying, "Ahmet Davutoğlu, don't be afraid, come let's debate in front of the Turkish nation on TV. If you want, bring 'Bebecan' (Ali Babacan) too. The two of you, and I alone."

Ahmet Davutoğlu had made statements regarding Ümit Özdağ during a television program he attended in recent days. In the program, Davutoğlu said, "This person came out on television and said, 'We worked with MOSSAD.' You will grow up taking briefings from MOSSAD, you will have no shame, and then you will talk about me, is that it? Being a politician means being loyal to one's own nation first, not taking briefings from foreign states. You are the one who should be ashamed."

Continuing his remarks, Davutoğlu criticized Özdağ for his assessments regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating, "He says, 'The President is a better politician than these,' just to fawn over the President. He will receive the answer he deserves on this matter. While he was taking briefings from MOSSAD, I was pursuing the cause of the Turkic world. I was the one who brought 103 Turkic tribes together in Kyrgyzstan and ended the war. At that time, he was taking briefings from MOSSAD. These are not nationalism; these are Kurdish hostility and Arab hostility."
