Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made statements regarding the stance his party will take in the upcoming presidential election. Recalling that they withdrew their candidacy in the 2023 elections in favor of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Erbakan stated that they will put forward their own candidacy in the new election.
CANDIDACY MESSAGE FROM ERBAKAN
During a program he attended on KRT, Fatih Erbakan was asked the question, "Can we say for sure today, for example, that Fatih Erbakan is a presidential candidate?"
Erbakan responded to this question by saying, "Yes, we are saying this."
HE WITHDREW HIS CANDIDACY IN 2023
Explaining the reason for their current stance, Erbakan touched upon the process leading up to the 2023 Presidential elections.
Stating that they withdrew their candidacy while they were in the process of collecting the necessary signatures for his presidential bid at that time, Erbakan said the decision was made in line with the conditions of that day and the agreement signed with the AKP.
Erbakan used the following expressions regarding the process at that time:
"Yes, we are saying this. Because we had withdrawn our candidacy in the previous Presidential elections while we were in the process of collecting our signatures, the signatures required for the presidential candidacy, in line with the conditions of that day and the agreement we signed with the AK Party."
"IT WOULD NOT BE APPROPRIATE FOR US TO WITHDRAW FROM CANDIDACY IN ANOTHER ELECTION"
Stating that they will not make a similar decision in the new election, Erbakan said it is natural for the Yeniden Refah Party to enter the election with its own presidential candidate.
Erbakan used the following expressions in his statement:
"For this reason, we think that it would not be very appropriate, both politically and logically, for us to withdraw from candidacy in favor of any name in another election. We are a political party that has projects, has claims, has solution proposals, and aspires to govern the country. Therefore, it is extremely natural for the chairman to come forward as a candidate as a political party."
