The most talked-about name in the fund scandal: Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya has not returned the 2.2 billion lira!

It had been claimed that AKP member Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya had returned the 2.2 billion lira that came to light within the scope of the fund fraud allegations. However, new statements regarding this claim have shown that uncertainty persists as to whether the return in question actually took place.

Allegations linking Kaya and her spouse to a 2.2 billion lira irregularity had previously been brought to the agenda by the opposition. Most recently, information had surfaced in the public domain suggesting that this money had been returned; however, the legal or administrative process under which the return was made remained unclear.

Journalist Nagehan Alçı, known for her proximity to the AKP, stated that according to information she received from reliable sources, no such return had taken place. Journalist Bahar Feyzan also stated in a social media post, "I spoke with an influential figure. They stated that the claims regarding Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya returning the money are not true."

In the same post, Feyzan noted that the reason provided for the lack of a return process was that a precautionary measure had been placed on assets. However, information reflected in the public domain regarding whether a precautionary measure was actually taken against Kaya's assets also lacks certainty.

Previously, some reports had indicated that there was a request for a precautionary measure against Kaya. In contrast, claims that precautionary measures regarding other AKP members were lifted in a short time had also sparked controversy. Since no official statement has been made regarding the proceedings—or lack thereof—conducted against Kaya, the uncertainty in the process continues.
