The Palace now targets Fatih Altaylı: 'Altaylıııı! The water is starting to get hot for you'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı commented on public sentiment regarding President Erdoğan remaining in office for life in a video shared on social media. In the video, Altaylı stated the following:

“Should President Erdoğan continue as President for life? 70% of the public is against this. This rate is not very surprising. Because right now, apart from a significant portion of AKP voters and a segment of MHP voters, there is no one who supports such an idea. This nation is a nation that has strangled its sultans in the past. When it doesn't like it, when it doesn't want it... There are many Ottoman sultans who were strangled, fell victim to assassinations, or were claimed to have committed suicide.”

While these comments by Altaylı quickly became a trending topic, the analogies made, particularly regarding Ottoman history, were widely discussed.

Oktay Saral, Chief Advisor to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, quoted the video in question on his X (formerly Twitter) account and said to Altaylı, “Altaylıııı! The water is starting to get hot for you.”
