The question Erdoğan asked Akşener has leaked from the corridors! 'Why do you think...'

Founding Chair of the IYI Party Meral Akşener visited AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace. The meeting has become a major topic on the political agenda.

While rumors circulated in the corridors regarding Akşener's surprise visit, suggesting she would be "appointed as Vice President," the IYI Party stated that the meeting in question did not bind the party.

Gazete Pencere columnist Nuray Babacan shared information she obtained from the corridors regarding the Erdoğan-Akşener meeting.

Babacan wrote that Erdoğan asked Akşener, "Why do you think we lost the election?" and that Akşener listed the reasons, starting with the economy.

The relevant part of Babacan's article is as follows:

"In AKP corridors, it is clearly stated that, contrary to all the claims written and drawn about the Erdoğan-Akşener meeting, there was no offer made, and Akşener did not make any requests. It is stated that the appointment was organized by the private offices of the two leaders, who already have a dialogue.

The only anecdote from this meeting that has not come to light much might be Erdoğan's question to Akşener: 'Why do you think we lost the election?' If we move past the pleasantries, we can say that Akşener drew a brief perspective starting from the economic crisis and touching upon the problems of retirees and low-income earners.

However, what this meeting means for the future may be more important than its content. Calling it a new Sinan Oğan case might be an exaggeration, but it is understood that Erdoğan will resort to Akşener and those close to her as needed in the coming process. The majority say that one needs to look at future developments to make sense of the meeting."
