The reason behind the resignations in the IYI Party has emerged!

As the local elections approach, the string of resignations in the IYI Party shows no signs of stopping. Most recently, with the resignations of Deputy Head of Health Policies Aylin Anıl Arslan and Ankara MP Adnan Beker, the party's number of seats in parliament has dropped from 44 to 42.

While the party leadership maintains its silence regarding the resignations, there is talk in the corridors that other MPs may also resign.

According to a report in Cumhuriyet; IYI Party officials claimed that the MP resignations would continue and that some MPs would join the AKP. Stating that the party's decision to enter the local elections without an alliance, as “free and independent,” is being cited as the reason for the resignations, the officials noted that “in reality, the cracks in the party began after the primary elections for MP candidacy.” 

‘IT AFFECTED THE BASE’

Stating that “the MP candidate lists were determined not by the effort put into the party or political competence, but by wealth,” the officials claimed that the party's founders and GIK members who opposed this situation were pushed out of the party. One official commented, “Those who put effort into the party moved away because they were not valued, and this also affected the party's base.” A high-level official from the IYI Party said, “The party's labor cannot be sold. The allegation that MP lists were sold is disturbing the party members.”

On the other hand, it has been alleged that MPs Ümit Dikbayır, Uğur Poyraz, Seyithan İzsiz, and Salim Ensarioğlu will also resign from the party in the coming days. 

‘THE PROCESS COULD BE BENEFICIAL’

Some officials close to IYI Party leader Meral Akşener argued that “the party is being cleansed of rotten apples and that this process will be beneficial for the party's institutionalization.”
