The rift between AKP and DEM over Öcalan grows: Scandalous 'APO' slogans stir up trouble! 'Is there not a single smart person among them?'

Deputy Interior Minister Bülent Turan has reacted sharply to slogans chanted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) in recent days in favor of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan. In his statement, Turan noted that the slogans in question harm the steps taken for the unity and integrity of the country.

HEAVY CRITICISM FOR DEM PARTY

Tensions arose between the AKP and the DEM Party after the slogans in question were chanted during the DEM Party's group meeting. AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik and DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan made statements regarding the incident. However, the harshest reaction came from Deputy Interior Minister Bülent Turan.

TURAN: "IS THERE NOT A SINGLE SMART PERSON?"

Criticizing the DEM Party harshly in a statement made in the Lapseki district of Çanakkale, Turan reacted by asking, "Is there not a single smart person among them?" Turan said the following: 

"There is no sensible, cool-headed person. Wouldn't someone say, 'This thing you are doing is wrong. You don't know what kind of reaction this will create in one part of the country while you are trying to make another part happy'?" 

"THIS IS TREACHERY"

Turan stated that these actions by the DEM Party are a betrayal of Turkey's struggle for a future without terrorism. Turan said, "Let's say there are three ignorant people who are wrong. Is there not a single smart person? This is a betrayal of this country's future and the claim of a Turkey without terrorism."

In his remarks, Turan also touched upon the Imralı Process and the fight against terrorism. Claiming that Turkey has made great strides in the fight against terrorism, Turan said, "In one of the most special institutions of this country, in our Parliament which is a Veteran, we experienced a scene that saddened and devastated us all."

He stated that such actions would damage the well-intentioned process and threaten social peace.
