The Turkish Grand National Assembly has a busy agenda for the new week

In the new week, the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly will discuss a bill on consumer protection, a motion to extend the mandate of Turkish troops in Lebanon, and the 9th Judicial Package. Meanwhile, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will deliver a presentation to the Planning and Budget Committee regarding the 2025 Central Government Budget Law Proposal and the 2023 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal.

The Turkish Grand National Assembly has a busy agenda for the new week

TBMM (AA) - The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly will discuss a bill on consumer protection, a motion to extend the mandate of Turkish troops in Lebanon, and the 9th Judicial Package.

The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will begin its weekly work on Tuesday, October 22.

The TBMM has a busy agenda for the new week. Accordingly, the General Assembly will continue deliberations on the Bill on Amendments to the Law on the Protection of Consumers and Certain Other Laws.

According to this bill, the formal requirements for contracts between lenders and consumers will be enabled through methods that include identity verification via an information or electronic communication device.

Matters regarding the direct sales system will be regulated, and the rights and obligations of the parties will be clarified. The settlement institution will also be allowed to be applied to provisions regarding commercial advertisements and unfair commercial practices.

Supportive measures will be taken to increase the competitiveness of domestic marketplaces against foreign-origin marketplaces, to increase employment levels, and to accelerate export growth to encourage more businesses to focus on exports.

LEBANON MOTION TO COME TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AGENDA

Furthermore, the General Assembly will discuss the Presidential Motion regarding the extension of the mandate of Turkish troops stationed in Lebanon within the scope of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for another year.

Following the consumer protection bill and the Lebanon motion, the TBMM General Assembly will begin deliberations on the Bill on Amendments to Certain Laws, publicly known as the 9th Judicial Package.

According to the 9th Judicial Package, the number of questions in the Entrance Exam for Legal Professions and the Preliminary Exam for Administrative Judiciary will be increased from 100 to 120.

Changes will be made to the number of candidates to be called for the Judge and Prosecutor Assistant Interview; candidates exceeding the announced number of positions by one-fold will be called for the interview.

The sales procedure for vehicles in impound lots that have been removed from traffic due to being found or in accordance with legal provisions and have not been claimed or sought by their owners within 6 months will be redetermined.

The crime of insult via audio, written, or visual communication will be removed from the scope of conciliation and included in the scope of advance payment.

Regarding the crime of insult, which is subject to complaint for investigation and prosecution, the complaint period shall not exceed two years from the date the act occurred, regardless of the circumstances.

Those who have completed mediation training and have 20 years of seniority in their profession will be able to register in the mediation registry without taking the written exam. A requirement to be a law graduate will be introduced to become a conciliator.

BUDGET WORK BEGINS

Budget deliberations in the Planning and Budget Committee will begin with a presentation by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz regarding the 2025 Central Government Budget Law Proposal and the 2023 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal.

The Specialized Commissions of the TBMM will also convene to discuss items on their agendas.

The Justice Commission will address the Bill on Amendments to the Notary Law and Certain Other Laws, which contains regulations regarding the judiciary.

In the Migration and Integration Subcommittee of the Human Rights Investigation Commission, officials from the Ministry of National Education will make a presentation on "the school situations of students with refugee status in Turkey, their problems, and the work done to solve these problems."

Additionally, the Child Rights Subcommittee of the Human Rights Investigation Commission will hear from officials from the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority.

The Security and Intelligence Commission will also receive information from officials of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Presidency during its closed-door meeting as part of the deliberations on the 2023 Report on State Intelligence Services and Security and Intelligence Activities.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the group meetings of the political parties with groups in the Parliament will be held.
