The Turkish Grand National Assembly has a busy agenda this week: Budget sessions continue

The General Assembly, which will begin its weekly work tomorrow, is scheduled to discuss the 12th Development Plan on the same day.

Furthermore, the General Assembly is expected to begin deliberations this week on the "Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Transformation of Areas Under Disaster Risk and Certain Other Laws, and Decree-Law No. 375," which includes regulations regarding urban transformation.

With this proposal, new procedures are being introduced for cancellation lawsuits filed against administrative actions based on damage assessment reports—excluding procedures related to beneficiary rights—in areas accepted as disaster-affected zones due to the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, provided that these actions are linked to damages caused by these earthquakes and subsequent tremors. The regulation aims to accelerate judicial processes.

According to the draft law, property owners will be granted a period not exceeding 90 days at once for the demolition of risky structures, and if the evacuation of the structures is obstructed, the evacuation will be carried out by law enforcement. Urban transformation will be able to be carried out based on a decision taken by the simple majority of the property owners.

BUDGET NEGOTIATION CALENDAR

Meanwhile, the Plan and Budget Committee will continue its deliberations on the 2024 budget. The committee will address the budgets of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance on Tuesday, October 31; the Ministry of Trade on Wednesday, November 1; the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on Thursday, November 2; and the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Friday, November 3.

The Turkish Grand National Assembly's State Economic Enterprises Commission and the Migration and Integration Subcommittee of the Human Rights Investigation Commission will also convene this week.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the political parties with groups in the Parliament will hold their group meetings.
