Journalists Barış Terkoğlu, Barış Pehlivan, and Filiz Gazi held a solidarity event yesterday at Tekin Bookstore in Üsküdar for imprisoned journalist Furkan Karabay and signed his book "Gurban" for readers. Karabay's colleagues and readers showed great interest in the event.

The speakers called for the immediate release of Furkan Karabay, who has been imprisoned for 65 days without even an indictment being prepared.

Barış Terkoğlu said in his speech: "They keep Furkan in prison so that those who commit injustices in this country can sleep comfortably at night. Whatever letter, word, or article of Furkan's was left unfinished, we will complete it. We met here for solidarity. I believe that very soon, Furkan will be with us again and will continue to write."

Ilgaz Gökırmaklı stated that she visits Karabay in prison every week, saying, "His mood and morale are good. He continues to practice journalism from inside, and we are waiting for Furkan to regain his freedom as soon as possible."

"FURKAN WILL CONTINUE TO WRITE"

Barış Pehlivan stated, "We were here for my brother, friend, and colleague Furkan. Let no one have any doubt, Furkan will continue to write and will be with us again in his freedom."

Journalist-Author Filiz Gazi emphasized that the indictment regarding Karabay has still not been prepared, saying, "We want our friend to regain his freedom and return to his profession as soon as possible."

Tekin Publishing Editor-in-Chief Elif Akkaya underlined that journalism is a public duty that protects the public's right to receive news, stating, "Furkan is a very young and valuable writer. Journalism is not just a profession; it means defending the public's right to be informed. With the awareness of this responsibility, we are always by his side."

The participants signed copies of the book "Gurban," authored by Karabay, for his readers and emphasized that they would keep his words and pen alive in his absence.
