Threat against CHP council member: Handcuff photo and death threat message sent

Deniz Uykan, a CHP member of the Bayrampaşa Municipal Council, was threatened via messages sent to his mobile phone by person or persons yet to be identified. Uykan filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office through his lawyer. The complaint states that threatening messages and a photo of handcuffs were sent to Uykan via WhatsApp.

DEATH THREAT WITH A BLANK RESIGNATION LETTER

The criminal complaint states that Uykan received death threats from people he did not know, accompanied by various messages and photos of handcuffs, demanding his resignation from the party. It was observed that these individuals sent messages to Uykan such as, "Do not be afraid and do not try to run. Our eyes are on you. The state is always 18 years old! Do not forget!" and "Watch your back from now on, my brave one, because the state knows how to take revenge on its enemies," and also sent a blank template for a party resignation letter.

2 COUNCIL MEMBERS HAD ALSO RESIGNED AFTER BEING REFERRED TO DISCIPLINE

In recent days, two CHP members of the Bayrampaşa Municipal Council had also resigned from the CHP, accusing the mayor. It was revealed that the council members who resigned had been referred to the disciplinary board due to attitudes and behaviors that had long been inconsistent with the party's principles and understanding of discipline, and that Mayor Hasan Mutlu had also filed criminal complaints against them.
