Reactions have poured in after the Court of Cassation decided not to implement the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding Can Atalay.
The second violation ruling issued by the Constitutional Court regarding TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay had been sent to the Court of Cassation. In its decision, the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation stated, "The Constitutional Court's ruling of rights violation has no legal value."
Reactions have begun to rise against the Court of Cassation's refusal to implement the Constitutional Court's decision. Can Atalay's party, the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), issued a statement regarding the decision on its social media account.
"THIS IS NOT A JUDICIAL DECISION. IT IS A COUP",
TİP stated, "The decision of the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation regarding Hatay MP Can Atalay is a declaration that the Palace Regime, which could not secure the majority to change the Constitution through the ballot box, has effectively abolished the Constitution. This is not a judicial decision. It is a coup! We will not allow the coup and the coup plotters to pass!"
