The Istanbul Provincial Organization of the Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH) held a protest in Kadıköy, Istanbul, regarding the process known in the public eye as the "fund scandal." During the demonstration held in front of the PTT building at Kadıköy Pier, a package containing cleaning supplies was sent via cargo to the AKP Headquarters.
During the protest, slogans such as "This country is ours, we will not leave it to the fund-seekers and thieves," "Liar, plunderer, enemy of the people AKP," and "There is no looting, there is socialism" were frequently chanted.
TKH Chairperson Aysel Tekerek linked the events to the government's policies in her speech. Recalling that the AKP had promised in the past to fight against "bans, corruption, and poverty," Tekerek stated, "After 25 years, the picture is clear."
In the press statement read on behalf of the party, it was argued that the fund crisis had left behind a "wreck worth billions of dollars." The statement claimed that the financial system transferred resources to those benefiting from the government's opportunities, and called for those responsible to resign and for the "assets of those who add wealth to their wealth to be seized."
Following the statement, TKH Central Committee member Ahmet Tarık Yenil made a reference to the "purification" debates within the AKP. Stating that the package, which was labeled "you cannot cleanse this" and filled with various cleaning supplies, would be sent to the AKP Headquarters, Yenil said, "Nothing can cleanse you."
After the speeches, the prepared package was sent to the AKP Headquarters via PTT. The TKH members concluded the press statement with an emphasis on "struggle."
