TKP protest in Ankara: The boss system is the murderer of both workers and nature in İliç

A landslide occurred at the Çöpler Mine, owned by Anagold Mining, which had previously come to the agenda due to cyanide leaks and continued to operate with capacity increases while lawsuits were ongoing. Nine workers were left under the soil in the collapse.

According to SoL, the Communist Party of Turkey held a protest in Ankara regarding the disaster at the mine, which has posed a danger due to lack of oversight, negligence, and profit-driven bosses since it began operations in 2010.

"MURDERER ANAGOLD, GET OUT OF OUR COUNTRY"

During the protest held in front of the Miners' Monument in Kızılay, it was pointed out that those responsible for the disaster were the company and public officials who turned a deaf ear to warnings.

In the protest, where slogans such as "Murderer Anagold, collaborator AKP!" and "Murderer Anagold, get out of our country!" were chanted, the press statement was read by Çisel Demirkan on behalf of the TKP Ankara Provincial Organization.

In the statement, where the remarks from authorized figures were described as "crocodile tears," it was stated, "The responsibility for even a single worker getting hurt today lies with the greed for profit of bosses whose only concern is to immorally fill their coffers, the support of the political power, and the spectatorship of the parliamentary opposition."

"THE MAIN RESPONSIBLE PARTIES ARE THOSE WHO IGNORED THE WARNINGS"

In the protest, where a call was made to mobilize all resources for the rescue of the workers under the rubble, the following statements were included:

"We are living through one of the days that best explains what this system deems worthy for the people and the laborers.

In the mining area operated by Anagold Mining Company in İliç, Erzincan, the crimes committed against nature for years have, as of today, resulted in workers being left under the rubble as a result of ignoring so many warnings.

The responsibility for even a single worker getting hurt today lies with the greed for profit of bosses whose only concern is to immorally fill their coffers, the support of the political power, and the spectatorship of the parliamentary opposition.

Let no one shed crocodile tears from this hour on, let no one try to appear as if they care about the workers under the rubble. Their only concern is their own pockets, their only concern is their coffers...

We are angry...

Those who did not listen even once to all the warnings and the reactions that 'you are poisoning the people and nature' are the main culprits for the workers being left under the rubble.

Now, all available resources must be mobilized to rescue the laborers, but we have a word to say...

We will definitely hold this mindless, immoral system accountable for what happened today.

We will hold both that mining company, the political power that mobilized for that mining company, and the parliamentary opposition that did not utter a peep against the bosses accountable!"
