TMSF ban on CHP's Bursa rally posters draws backlash: 'If the decree belongs to the sultan, the streets are ours'
The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) refusing to allow the hanging of posters for the rally the CHP is set to hold in Bursa has sparked a reaction from party officials. CHP Bursa Provincial Chair Nihat Yeşiltaş and MP Orhan Sarıbal shared posts criticizing the situation.
As the Republican People's Party (CHP) continues preparations for its 'Standing Up for the National Will' rally to be held in Bursa on Sunday, May 25, the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund's (TMSF) refusal to allow the posters to be hung across the city has sparked controversy.
CHP Bursa Provincial Chair Nihat Yeşiltaş stated that they had made the necessary applications to place advertisements on billboards to announce the rally and had committed to paying the fees. However, he stated that the TMSF had rejected these requests. In a statement on social media, Yeşiltaş expressed his reaction by saying, "You will not be able to prevent us from meeting with hundreds of thousands in Bursa!"
"WE ARE HERE TO STAND UP FOR DEMOCRACY"
Yeşiltaş argued that the TMSF's decision was not only an intervention against the CHP but also against the public's right to information and democratic participation. Stating, "We will not bow to such obstacles, and we will not give up on meeting with the public," Yeşiltaş emphasized that they would stand up for democracy at the rally to be held on May 25.
CHP Bursa MP Orhan Sarıbal criticized the TMSF's stance, saying, "If the decree belongs to the sultan, the streets are ours! On May 25, we will meet with hundreds of thousands in that square they fear." Sarıbal stated that the TMSF was acting like the government's censorship board and that this situation was a political operation.
The CHP aims to reach a large audience at the rally it will hold in Bursa with the participation of Chairman Özgür Özel. Party officials stated that such obstacles would not stop them and that they would continue to raise their voices for a brighter Turkey.
