Towards the convention in the Felicity Party: After Birol Aydın, the headquarters also announces its candidate

The Felicity Party will hold its extraordinary congress in Ankara on June 30, following Temel Karamollaoğlu's announcement that he will step down from the chairmanship citing health issues.

Karamollaoğlu announced that the headquarters' candidate for the 3rd Extraordinary Congress is Kayseri Deputy Mahmut Arıkan.

Felicity Party Istanbul Deputy Birol Aydın announced his candidacy for the chairmanship today.

In a press statement, Aydın said, "I am declaring my candidacy for the Felicity Party Chairmanship at the 3rd Extraordinary Congress to protect our Felicity Party, to uphold the stance that our organization members have maintained under all conditions for 20 years, especially in the last seven years, by looking into our chairman's eyes; as Felicity Party cadres, to protect our country's unity, brotherhood, and social reconciliation since 2016; to eliminate polarization; and to ensure that our chairman is not worn down any further, and to protect our party's unity, integrity, and climate of brotherhood. I hope this decision will be auspicious for our community."

Temel Karamollaoğlu: "I wish Mahmut Arıkan success in his work"

Stating that they will support Mahmut Arıkan at the congress, Karamollaoğlu said: "I cannot continue my duty due to my health problems. For this reason, we will hold our congress this weekend. I expect all our organization members and delegates to attend.

We requested that candidate names be submitted during a Zoom meeting. Hundreds of names were mentioned. Some wanted one name, others wanted several. We asked our organizations again about the 5 names that stood out.

Again, there were requests for one or more names. This process was not a vote. Mr. Mahmut appeared at the forefront of these names.

In the High Advisory Board (YİK) meeting we held today, all our friends stated that the name of our Organization President Mr. Mahmut would be appropriate. I pray that this decision will be auspicious. There may be other candidates. The method is clear for those who announce they will be candidates.

There is no work on a charter amendment. The focus is on the election of the Chairman. A new General Administrative Board (GİK) will be formed. Our new Chairman will take office on Monday.

I would like to express my gratitude to Recai Bey. I wish success in his work to our Kayseri Deputy Mahmut Arıkan, who also served as our Kayseri Provincial President during a difficult period."

WHO IS MAHMUT ARIKAN?

Mahmut Arıkan was born in Kayseri in 1977. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kayseri. He graduated from Erciyes University, Department of Civil Engineering in 1999. During his university years, he served as the School President of the National Youth Foundation, and since the establishment of the Felicity Party, he has held positions as youth branch president, district president, and provincial president. He has served in many non-governmental organizations, primarily MÜSİAD, ASKON, İMO, Cansuyu, and AGD.

Who is Birol Aydın?

Birol Aydın was born in Gümüşhane in 1969. After completing his primary and secondary education in Gebze, he pursued his higher education at Zitouna University in Tunisia. After university, he served as the Gebze President of the National Youth Foundation and the Headquarters Organization President of the Anatolian Youth Association, respectively.

He began his political career by taking part in various levels of the National View (Milli Görüş) parties. He served as the Kocaeli Provincial President of the Felicity Party between 2002 and 2005. He was the Felicity Party's candidate for Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor in the March 30, 2014 local elections.
