TSİP's response to Destici's 'terrorist' claim

BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici's labeling of various opposition parties, most of which are left-wing and socialist, as "terrorists" has been met with backlash.

Turgut Koçak, Chairman of the Socialist Workers' Party of Turkey (TSİP), one of the parties targeted by Mustafa Destici, issued a written statement in response to Destici.

"WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO PUT THEM IN THEIR PLACE"

In his statement, Turgut Koçak said, "We will not take a single step back against those whose spirits are sick with terrorism, who are eager to create chaos and win elections by making such statements on the eve of local elections, and we will do our best to put those who long for massacres in their place."

"THE LEFT AND SOCIALISTS ARE UNCOMPROMISING AGAINST THE CRIME OF TERRORISM"

The statement is as follows:

"As the Socialist Workers' Party of Turkey (TSİP), we condemn Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici with violence and hatred. We condemn him because he has accused parties in the opposition, which represent an overwhelming majority of this people, of being terrorists, and by associating them with terrorism, he has made a statement that encourages the public to hatred and enmity while simultaneously calling on the state to take action to impose necessary sanctions against these parties. Among these parties, all left-wing and socialist parties, including our party, the Socialist Workers' Party of Turkey, have been targeted.

The targeted parties do not only include left-wing and socialist parties. They include the parties that were in the Nation Alliance in the last elections and all parties that do not act in line with the current government.

However, there is not a single example showing that any of these parties have committed massacres similar to, for example, the Maraş and Çorum massacres. Before making this statement, Mustafa Destici should have evaluated the political structure he comes from, but as someone not in a position to do so, he has opened his mouth and deemed it necessary to make a statement full of hatred and enmity, whoever he may be trying to please. In particular, the history, current position, and future of some parties that have taken their place on the left in the history of this country are clean. Furthermore, it should be known that terrorism is a crime against humanity. The left and socialists are uncompromising against this crime.
