Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan made evaluations regarding the resolution process. Responding to questions from Deniz Bayramoğlu on a live broadcast on Halk TV, Bakırhan made statements regarding the stage the process has reached and the steps expected to be taken in the coming period.
Upon Bayramoğlu asking whether they expect the process to be confirmed at the National Security Council (MGK) meeting expected to be held towards the end of November, Bakırhan said that according to field readings and the information they have received, he thinks the terrorist organization PKK could complete its steps regarding the process by November 27.
Bakırhan said, "From field readings and the reports we have received from there, we think that at least the organization, the PKK, can prepare itself by the 27th. I think it can be ready by the 27th, but our issue is not just that assessment and confirmation report that the National Security Council will provide."
'THERE IS A BELIEF IN THE PROCESS'
Arguing that the attitude of the organized structure towards the process is important, Bakırhan used the expressions, "On the other hand, there is truly a belief in the process. This is very important."
Stating that different attitudes can emerge against decisions taken in processes in different countries, Bakırhan evaluated the terrorist organization PKK's approach to the process with these words:
"For example, in world experiences, a decision is made but some do not adopt it. Some even leave, some take a different stance. It is actually an advantage that an organization this widespread, organized in many parts of the world, believes in this process as a whole without giving a single casualty and fulfills its requirements."
Touching upon the 2013 resolution process, Bakırhan claimed that the current process is different from that period, saying, "When we compare 2013 and now, now there is truly an approach being put forward to commit itself to this process as a whole and for the process to reach success."
'THE PROCESS IS IN THE FIRST PHASE'
To the question regarding which stage the resolution process is currently in, Bakırhan gave the answer, "We are currently in the first phase."
Stating that the enactment of the framework law is important and noting that the law was accepted with a high number of votes, Bakırhan said, "The 467 votes cast were actually votes cast for non-conflict, resolution, and peace."
Arguing that the process could progress faster, Bakırhan said that the established commissions should begin their work.
Bakırhan used the expressions, "The boards should start their duties. This report that the National Security Council will provide regarding confirmation-assessment should be written as soon as possible."
Claiming that the terrorist organization PKK is taking steps in line with the process, Bakırhan said that according to the information reaching them, the organization is evacuating its camps and withdrawing.
Bakırhan said, "According to the information we have received on this matter, the PKK members are also taking steps in line with the process. That is, they are evacuating the camps, they are withdrawing. Actually, on one hand, it is proceeding quickly in a way that we also approve of."
Stating that the boards established within the scope of the process should also fulfill their duties on time, Bakırhan expressed that the second phase could be moved to with the publication of the reports to be prepared.
Bakırhan said, "On this side as well, if these established boards fulfill their duties, their functions, and publish the reports they will prepare on time, we will make progress. That is, we will move to the second phase."
