Turkey has been talking about this incident for days: How did two soldiers die in Hatay? Here are the questions that will put the government in a difficult position!
Allegations raised following the death of two soldiers in Hatay have sparked a major backlash. CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu called for an investigation to identify those responsible. Bağcıoğlu listed the possibilities regarding the incident.
In recent weeks, Turkey has been shaken by a series of reports of fallen soldiers. The death of two soldiers in the İskenderun district of Hatay after they were hospitalized with complaints of high fever and nausea has caused a major stir in the public agenda.
Following this incident, CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu and other opposition parties demanded that the causes leading to the soldiers' deaths be fully clarified.
SCANDALOUS ALLEGATIONS WERE RAISED
After the two privates died, some scandalous allegations were made regarding the matter. According to the claim, all soldiers were punished because of a private who tried to desert, and they were made to wait for hours under extreme heat and the sun. It is suggested that this situation negatively affected the soldiers' health and led to their deaths.
DIFFICULT QUESTIONS FOR THE GOVERNMENT
CHP Deputy Chairman and member of the TBMM National Defense Commission, Yankı Bağcıoğlu, demanded that the incident be clarified in all its aspects. Bağcıoğlu emphasized that it might have been possible to prevent the deaths of the soldiers.
Stating that there are important questions that need to be answered during the investigation process to ease the public conscience, Bağcıoğlu listed these questions.
- 'Why were the privates kept under the sun for a long time? Is it true that the entire company was made to wait for a long time because there were deserters?
- Who gave the order to keep the privates under the sun for a long time, contrary to directives and administrative orders? Who implemented this order contrary to directives and administrative orders?
- Including those who did not give the order; did all the chain of command, and even all the ranked personnel, not notice that the privates were kept under the sun for a long time? If they did, did they react?
- Did the Unit Commander not foresee the health problems that could be caused by the privates staying under the sun for a long time? Does this situation not show a weakness in command and management?
- Do the doctors at the Primary Health Care Center monitor adverse meteorological conditions and warn the Unit Commander about the possible effects on personnel?
- Is it true that 'drinking water' was insufficient in the unit and that soldiers had to buy water from the canteen with money?
- If this is true, why were corrective measures not taken logistically by the chain of command, including the Naval Forces Command?
- Who performed the first medical intervention at the Regiment Command?
- What is the 'intervention location - time - event schedule' of the emergency medical intervention performed on the ailing privates? Was the 'emergency medical intervention' performed evaluated within the framework of the standards that must be provided in force?
- Does the fact that these sad and negative results, which are not even experienced in units of the TSK serving in much more difficult geographical and operational conditions, occurred in a military unit in the center of the city reveal a comprehensive command weakness?'
