Turnout rate dropped: Number of invalid votes in İzmir revealed
According to unofficial results in İzmir, 94,435 votes were counted as invalid in the March 31 Local Administration Elections.
According to unofficial results in the March 31 Local Administration Elections in İzmir, 2 million 726 thousand 313 people cast their votes in a city with 3 million 459 thousand 970 registered voters.
While 2 million 631 thousand 878 of the cast votes were deemed valid, 94 thousand 435 votes were counted as invalid.
In İzmir, where CHP candidate Cemil Tugay won, 733 thousand 657 citizens did not go to the polls. In the 2019 Local Elections, 74 thousand 528 votes were counted as invalid, and 513 thousand 3 citizens had not gone to the polls.

Thus, the turnout rate for İzmir residents in yesterday's election was 79.01 percent, whereas this rate was 84.31 percent in 2019.
