Tuzla Mayor Bingöl, rumored to be switching to AKP, begins persuasion tour
CHP Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl faced backlash from voters during meetings held amid allegations that he would switch to the AKP.
Allegations that CHP Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl will switch to the AKP have intensified political debate in the district. The remarks Bingöl made during meetings with hometown associations and the reactions from voters have been reflected in the public agenda.
Targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality during the meetings, Bingöl argued that if the zoning plan is not approved, approximately 50 thousand people will be victimized. It was reported that regarding this process, Bingöl said, "I have to take a step now."

Addressing the claims that he would change parties, Bingöl stated that he had no fear or wrongdoing, saying, "If we have a crime, it is exposing these irregularities."
A citizen who took the floor at the meeting drew attention with the remark, "I voted for you. If you switch to the AKP, that vote is forbidden to you." It was stated that Bingöl responded to this reaction by saying, "I find it more appropriate to resign, but I am in a dilemma between the situation of 50 thousand people and ideology."

While it is claimed that Bingöl will join the AKP on August 14, it is assessed that the debate regarding the allegations will continue to have an impact on Tuzla politics.
