Two legislative proposals on the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in April

The General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will discuss two legislative proposals containing regulations in the fields of energy and tourist guiding, which have been approved by the committees, following the March 31 Local Administration General Elections.

According to the Draft Law on Amendments to the Mining Law and Certain Other Laws, which includes regulations in the energy sector, natural gas produced domestically or imported from different sources will be able to be liquefied in Turkey and marketed to world markets as LNG.

Projects prepared to increase energy efficiency will be supported by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources at a rate of up to 30 percent of their costs, provided that they do not exceed 15 million liras.

Renewable energy production plants will be able to be established without the need for zoning plans in areas declared as renewable energy resource areas by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in seas, dam lakes, artificial lakes, and natural lakes, excluding reservoirs and wetlands used for drinking and utility water supply, as well as coastal and shoreline strips within the scope of the Coastal Law.

In places where a state of emergency has been declared or which have been accepted as disaster areas affecting general life, temporary electricity energy demands will be met within the framework of determined procedures and principles in order to ensure that electricity services are provided without interruption.

REGULATIONS FOR AGENCIES

According to the Draft Law on Amendments to the Tourist Guiding Profession Law and the Law on Travel Agencies and the Association of Travel Agencies, those who cannot fulfill the foreign language proficiency certificate requirement will be able to become Turkish-language tourist guides if they fulfill the other requirements for admission to the profession.

For undergraduate graduates from the art history and archaeology departments of universities, the requirement to participate in a tourist guiding training program will not be sought.

If travel agencies send their customers to a business for shopping purposes without their knowledge and consent in exchange for obtaining benefits for themselves or the persons they direct, their licenses will be canceled and they will not be able to operate as travel agencies for a period of 5 years.

REGULATION REGARDING CRYPTO ASSETS IN PARLIAMENT

The legislative proposal regarding crypto assets is also planned to be submitted to the Speaker of the Parliament by the AKP in April. This proposal will also come to the agenda of the TBMM General Assembly following committee discussions.

In addition, initial discussions regarding the new constitution are expected to begin in the TBMM in April.

During the new constitution-making process, it is planned to receive opinions from all political parties in the Parliament regarding which headings should be included in the constitution and to determine a general framework.
