Two more resignations from the New Welfare Party
The district mayors of Çumra and Emirgazi in Konya, along with their administrations, have announced their resignation from the New Welfare Party (YRP).
Following the appointment of Hasan Yel as the Konya Provincial Chair of the New Welfare Party, Emirgazi Mayor Mesut Mertcan and Çumra Mayor Mehmet Aydın announced their resignation from the party.
The mayors made a joint press statement regarding their resignation at a press conference held at a hotel in Konya.
Reading the press statement, Çumra Mayor Mehmet Aydın said, "As mayors, we have made our resignation statements. We are cadres who listen to and value the voices of our organizations on every platform, and who adopt common sense and consultation in management.
We did not make this decision here only as Çumra and Emirgazi. We are here as the voice of 5 valuable district chairs of our Konya, 8 metropolitan municipal council members, 30 district municipal council members, and 55 people from the management and executive boards.
We have made the decision to resign. From now on, we will continue to serve without being affiliated with any party," he said.
