According to a report in the Türkiye newspaper, which is known for its proximity to the government, the AKP is continuing its search for a candidate from the Black Sea region to run against Ekrem İmamoğlu, while also focusing on profiles that could attract votes from both Kurdish and opposition voters.

Despite not being from the Black Sea region or Kurdish, the name of former Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum is among those most frequently mentioned in political circles due to his ministerial experience.

Some party officials argue that a candidate who can appeal to both Kurdish and opposition voters and who can pursue moderate politics should be nominated in Istanbul. It is being discussed in political circles that one of the names possessing these characteristics is Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca. Additionally, because he is from the Black Sea region, former Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu is also among the names being discussed for Istanbul.

It is also stated that one of the current district mayors could be nominated for the metropolitan municipality. It is noted that Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu, Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen, and Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan could be nominated.
