Ümit Özdağ makes marriage claim regarding Öcalan: 'The person he will marry...'

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, appearing on a program hosted by İsmail Küçükkaya on Sözcü TV, made new claims regarding the conditions of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı and the process he is reportedly being subjected to.

Özdağ stated that a 250-square-meter residence with a garden has been built on İmralı Island for Öcalan's use, and suggested that this structure is being discussed not only for meetings or organizational contacts but also for "family life."

ÖZDAĞ'S İMRALI CLAIMS

Speaking during the broadcast, Özdağ said that discussions regarding Öcalan's role within the scope of the process referred to as a "Terror-Free Turkey" are ongoing. While it is noted that MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had previously shared details regarding the structure on İmralı, Özdağ argued that this process raises serious questions in terms of the penal and execution system.

Özdağ claimed that Öcalan is influential over the YPG structure in Syria and alleged that he would also be decisive from İmralı regarding political and economic arrangements in the region. Özdağ argued that claims stating "there is no autonomy" do not reflect the truth.

"There is currently a region there controlled by Öcalan. Öcalan will be the one from İmralı who determines the investments there and who is given what job."

Özdağ's most striking claim concerned Öcalan's private life. The Zafer Party leader suggested that in the house reportedly built on İmralı, Öcalan "would not only manage the organization," but would also meet with the press and wants to get married.

"There is also a desire to establish a family. A desire to get married. This is clear information. Even the person he will marry has been talked about in Ankara circles for months."

Özdağ argued that these claims point to an unacceptable situation in terms of current criminal law and the execution system, commenting, "As if he deserves a normal life."
