Vatan Party's Istanbul candidate announced

The Vatan Party held a "Local Election Manifesto and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Introduction Meeting" at the Üsküdar Bağlarbaşı Congress and Culture Center.

Speaking at the meeting, Vatan Party Chairman Doğu Perinçek announced that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) mayoral candidate is Provincial Chairman İbrahim Okan Özkan.

"WE WILL BUILD HUMANE CITIES AND HUMANE MUNICIPALITIES"

Stating that they would rebuild Istanbul, Perinçek said, "We will revive that neighborhood culture, solidarity, brotherhood, and love in Istanbul and throughout Turkey. We will build humane cities and humane municipalities."

Perinçek also said the following regarding İbrahim Okan Özkan:

"He is among the distinguished friends who are honest, upright, knowledgeable, experienced, conscious, and capable, part of a cadre of heroes dedicated to this nation. We will never be embarrassed or hang our heads when recommending our friend İbrahim Okan Özkan to the people of Istanbul. Together with the workers, farmers, artisans, tradespeople, merchants, and industrialists, he will lead the difficult struggle to bring Istanbul out of the coming challenges and into great brightness."

"THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS POPULATION DENSITY"

Speaking after his name was announced, Özkan stated that Istanbul's problems are Turkey's problems, saying, "Those who see Istanbul as consisting only of Istanbul cannot govern Istanbul."

Özkan said, "Earthquakes, traffic, public transportation, rent, the cost of living, unplanned urbanization. The biggest cause of these problems is the population density that has formed following irregular migration to Istanbul."
