Following a speech by Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit at the DEM Party Group Meeting, chants of “Biji Serok Apo” were heard. Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları stated, “The commission must listen to Öcalan without wasting time. The right to hope must be granted, and a democratic negotiation process must begin.”

Chants in favor of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan were heard at the DEM Party's Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Group Meeting.

DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit said in her speech, “Welcome to the women who have embraced hope and are marching for freedom from Diyarbakır and from all corners of Kurdistan for Öcalan's freedom.” Following these words, chants of “Biji Serok Apo” rose in the hall.

“THE COMMISSION MUST LISTEN TO ÖCALAN”

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, in her speech at the meeting, referred to the “Peace Commission” established in the TBMM and said that the commission should listen to Abdullah Öcalan.

Hatimoğulları stated, “The Peace Commission is holding its 14th session. Most of those who were heard stated that the Kurdish issue must be resolved without any ifs or buts. The time has come to cross the political and legal threshold. The commission must listen to Öcalan without wasting time.”

“ÖCALAN MUST BE GRANTED THE RIGHT TO HOPE”

Hatimoğulları also expressed that Abdullah Öcalan should be granted the “right to hope.”

“Öcalan has advocated for a solution and peace for 27 years. The right to hope is a universal legal principle. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe announced its decision on this matter on September 17. A regulation for the right to hope for Öcalan must be implemented urgently,” she said.

Arguing that establishing direct dialogue with İmralı is critical for the peace process, Hatimoğulları said, “If the commission comes, Öcalan says he will initiate the democratic negotiation process. The key to peace is with the interlocutor.”

EMPHASIS ON OCTOBER 8 FOR DEMİRTAŞ

Touching upon the Kobani trial in her speech, Hatimoğulları demanded the release of former HDP Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ.

Hatimoğulları said, “The ECHR stated on July 8 for the third time that Demirtaş should be released. This decision is expected to be finalized on October 8. This is an opportunity for peace and democracy. Demirtaş, Yüksekdağ, and the detainees of the Kobani trial must be released immediately.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

The “We Are Marching to Freedom with Hope” cortege, which marched from Diyarbakır to Ankara on October 1, also attended the DEM Party group meeting.

During the march, it was demanded that Abdullah Öcalan be granted the “right to hope” and that the Peace Commission established in the TBMM go to İmralı to meet with Öcalan.

It was noted that participants chanted “Biji Serok Apo” at the end of the meeting.
