Sümer criticized the government's trade policies toward Israel by taking the podium with symbols of jet fuel and barbed wire.

In his speech, the CHP deputy stated that Turkey's ongoing trade with Israel continues through government-backed businesspeople.

Sümer's criticism was directed specifically at the trade revealed through the detailed work and documents of journalist Metin Cihan.

CITIZENS WHO PROTESTED HAD BEEN DETAINED

Cihan had revealed that millions of dollars worth of goods were being sent from Turkey to Israel, a situation that has drawn public backlash.

Some citizens who reacted to Turkey's ongoing trade with Israel were detained and subjected to mistreatment.

Addressing the government with his symbolic protest at the parliamentary podium, Sümer expressed the public discomfort caused by the trade with Israel and demanded a clear explanation from the government on the matter.
