Deniz Zeyrek reveals Erdoğan's plan to 'polish' Özgür Özel: 'I spoke with an AKP figure'

The steps being taken to overcome the obstacle preventing AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan from running for the presidency again due to legal restrictions continue to occupy the political agenda.

Following MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statement during his group meeting that a constitutional amendment is needed for President Erdoğan to run in another election, almost everyone has begun to closely follow the steps that will be taken next. 

While it continues to be discussed in political circles that the newly attempted 'opening' is also a move made for the election, a striking claim was put forward by journalist Deniz Zeyrek. In his claim, which he based on an AKP official whose name he did not disclose, Zeyrek stated that the AKP has decided to 'polish' Özgür Özel. 

Journalist Deniz Zeyrek made the following statements during a live broadcast:

There is no strategy for the AKP right now; they have only one goal, and that is to keep Tayyip Erdoğan in the presidential seat for one more term...

They want him to stay for one more term, or perhaps for life, and they are pursuing the preparation of the necessary ground for this. This could be a constitutional amendment; if that doesn't work, it could be the parliament renewing the elections; if that doesn't work, a transition to a parliamentary system might be attempted!

The sole goal is to be able to get President Erdoğan into the elections one more time, and for this, various moves are being made, such as 'let me elevate this person, let me discredit that person.'

An AKP official, to whom I promised not to reveal their name, openly said, "We have decided to polish Özgür Özel." Two days after I heard those words, the President used expressions praising Özgür Özel at the group meeting. Now, all of these are tactics... There are many tactics in the AKP, but no strategy!
