Drug warning from Turhan Çömez to the Interior Minister: It is being smuggled across the Iranian border
İYİ Party Balıkesir Deputy Op. Dr. Turhan Çömez, a guest on a program discussing the agenda of violence against women and the drug quagmire affecting young people, made a statement that serves as a formal tip-off.
Stating that large quantities of drugs are entering Turkey, Çömez recalled that he had warned the Interior Minister about this issue during a budget meeting while appearing on a program on Sözcü TV, and underscored the danger.
Stating that border controls must be monitored much more effectively, Çömez used the following expressions:
Currently, liquefied methamphetamine is being smuggled across the Iranian border in tankers under the guise of chemicals.
And they bring it here and convert it into methamphetamine in workshops.
In my own region (Balıkesir), families of 10 and 11-year-old children come to me and say, ‘My child is a drug addict.
Meth is being sold in front of schools. Please find a place, let’s get these children treated.’”
