Early election efforts continue: Ferda Kudunoğlu announces candidacy bid

While the CHP Party Assembly decided that the party's presidential candidate should be determined by a primary election, it also authorized the Central Executive Committee (MYK) regarding the calendar and method. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced the primary election date as March 23 during the group meeting at the Parliament on Tuesday.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who opposes the consolidation of the candidate selection method as a "primary election" and the early determination of the candidate, will not participate in the primary.

It is considered certain that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will emerge as the chosen candidate in the primary election planned for next month.

Amidst all these developments, CHP member Ferda Kudunoğlu made a post.

In her post, announcing that she would declare her candidacy for the CHP nomination for the early election, Kudunoğlu used the following expressions:

Valuable members of the CHP, fellow travelers of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, I greet you all with respect. I am Ferda Kudunoğlu. The calendar for determining presidential candidates has been announced, based on the CHP's primary election and early candidate policy for the presidential election to be held in 2028. In accordance with this calendar, I have also set out on the path for the presidential nomination. On Tuesday, I will largely try to collect signatures from my very valuable deputies by attending the party group meeting. Once I collect the 20 signatures in line with the approval of our deputies, I will also carry out my candidacy application. With these thoughts, I offer you all my heartfelt feelings, love, and respect.

WHO IS FERDA KUDUNOĞLU?

Ferda Kudunoğlu was born on July 13, 1960, in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon. Starting her education life in Trabzon, Kudunoğlu drew attention with her achievements at various universities. After first graduating from the Physics-Chemistry-Biology Department of the Fatih Faculty of Education at Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ), she received education in different fields such as the Department of International Relations, History Department, and Real Estate Management at the Faculty of Economics at Anadolu University. Furthermore, continuously improving herself in her professional life, Kudunoğlu is currently continuing her studies in the Philosophy Department at Anadolu University (AÖF).

Ferda Kudunoğlu did not work in public schools during her 44-year teaching career, but worked as a Chemistry-Biology teacher, manager, and business owner in various private tutoring centers and educational institutions she founded herself. She currently provides university and high school exam preparation coaching and family education consultancy services at the institution she founded, Sokrates Eğitim Danışmanlık. Additionally, she has made significant contributions to the field of education by organizing university promotional days.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Kudunoğlu’s success in her educational life was not limited to teaching; she also reached wide audiences by writing articles about education in various television programs, radio stations, and newspapers. In the field of university preparation in Turkey, she introduced an innovative approach by being the first to prepare university preparation coaching and an applied curriculum in this area.

Also active in the field of civil society, Kudunoğlu has served in EĞİT-DER, the Association for Supporting Contemporary Living (ÇYDD) Trabzon Branch, and the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV) Trabzon Branch, which were established after the September 12 coup.

HOBBIES

Kudunoğlu also engages in artistic activities such as writing poetry and authoring biology textbooks and test books. She has a work of poetry that she is preparing for publication. Her hobbies also include listening to music, photography, traveling, and swimming.

POLITICAL LIFE

Taking her first steps into her political career under the umbrella of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Kudunoğlu was a parliamentary candidate nominee in 2018 and 2023 and spearheaded various educational projects in the province of Trabzon. She has prepared reports for the CHP Headquarters and informed the public by setting up university preference desks in the districts of Trabzon with party projects.
