President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens, the capital of Greece, as part of an official visit during the fifth meeting of the Turkey-Greece High-Level Cooperation Council.
After meeting with Sakellaropoulou, Erdoğan moved to the Maximos Mansion to exchange views with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Mitsotakis welcomed Erdoğan there. As the two leaders shook hands, moments of sincere dialogue between the parties were captured on camera.
Reporting on the developments, the Greek press wrote, "Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed Mr. Erdoğan with a warm handshake."
Pointing out that bilateral mechanisms that had been inactive for a long time have been revitalized, President Erdoğan stated the following:
"Our dialogue channels are open and functioning at every level. Our mutual visit traffic is intense. We have the will to develop our cooperation in many areas important for our countries and our region on the basis of mutual trust. Now, what falls upon both sides is to reinforce, institutionalize, and advance this understanding. I believe that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis possesses the same will."
"WE NEED FRIENDS"
Emphasizing that Turkey has never viewed its neighbor Greece as an enemy or an adversary, President Erdoğan said, "Like all countries, we do not need enemies, we need friends."
