He had targeted the Turks... Reaction from presenter Ece Üner to Cübbeli Ahmet: 'Cübbeli is hurt'

Halk TV Main News Presenter Ece Üner gave a pointed reaction to statements by Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, in which he expressed sadness that mosques were becoming empty due to Syrians returning to their countries. Presenting the news on the January 20, 2025, Main News Bulletin with the words "Cübbeli is hurt!", Üner criticized Ünlü in harsh terms.

Following the report, Üner made the following assessments:

"He is an educated man, of course. He cannot say, 'We have turned people away from religion. We have instrumentalized religion. Some of us attempted to trade in religion instead of being religious. That is why we have cooled the congregation.' Instead, he says, 'Syrians will leave, the congregation will decrease.' Yet the congregation is still there, it is doing just fine."

Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü had claimed in a speech on his YouTube channel that mosques would remain empty with the return of Syrians and had used the following expressions:

"I am also sad, the congregation will decrease. Turks do not come to the mosque anyway! I had gone to the mosques in Fatih; in a small mosque at noon, there were 3 rows full of Syrians. Turks do not need paradise; they have sold their goods to hell. How do I know? I look at the prayers and the congregation."
