Murat Bakan's response to Abdullah Güler, who said 'trustee appointments will continue': 'It shows the judiciary has become politicized'

The appointment of a trustee to Esenyurt Municipality and the arrest of CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer have become one of the most discussed topics in politics.

CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for the Ministry of Interior and İzmir MP Murat Bakan made important assessments on 12punto regarding the trustee process, the trustee statement by AKP Group Deputy Chairman Abdullah Güler, and the early election, which remains a hot topic on the agenda. 

Referring to the case file, Bakan stated, ''When a lawyer with basic legal knowledge examines this file, they would issue a decision of non-prosecution.''  

THE ONLY ORGANIZATION HE IS A MEMBER OF IS THE CHP 

Underlining that there is no crime in the file, Bakan said, ''None of the actions taken by Ahmet Özer are crimes. The only organization Ahmet Özer is a member of is the CHP organization. He is a scientist who has spent 40 years of his life in service. The justification for his arrest is quite ridiculous. They are talking about a phone call, a condolence call. They are talking about the relatives of the people he visited for condolences being members of a terrorist organization.'

Stating that Özer is under arrest despite there being no grounds for his arrest and that the political power appointed a trustee to Esenyurt Municipality for political purposes, Bakan continued his words as follows: 

''Although there is no justification for his arrest, this investigation was conducted for a political purpose; that is, the government decided to appoint trustees to CHP municipalities and targeted Esenyurt Municipality and the Esenyurt Mayor. Some non-existent justifications were produced to support this. We have submitted a 38-page opinion with all the evidence.''

GÜLER'S STATEMENTS SHOW THAT THE JUDICIARY HAS BECOME POLITICIZED  

Evaluating the statement made by AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler in recent days that 'trustees will continue', Murat Bakan used the following expressions: 

''This is actually an example of the judiciary becoming politicized. Does the AKP Group Deputy Chairman decide where a trustee will be appointed? First, there is a judicial process for this. At the end of the judiciary, the Ministry of Interior makes the decision. I guess Abdullah Güler knows where a trustee will be appointed. They make a decision and someone else implements it. This is what we mean when we say the judiciary has become politicized. Another element of the politicized judiciary is the executive branch. The statements made by Abdullah Güler are a statement that clearly reveals the illegality of the trustee decisions.'' 

OUR ONLY WISH IS FOR THE PUBLIC TO GET RID OF THIS GOVERNMENT 

Evaluating the early election agenda, Bakan said, ''We want an early election. We do not accept an early election that comes towards the end of its term. Our only wish is for the citizens to get rid of this government.''
