Striking remarks from Cemal Enginyurt: 'CHP made the man who opened the bays to the quintet gang a metropolitan candidate'
Democrat Party Istanbul MP Cemal Enginyurt, who entered Parliament on the CHP lists in the May elections, made striking statements about CHP's Muğla Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Ahmet Aras during a live broadcast.
The repercussions of the Republican People's Party's (CHP) decision to continue with the incumbent mayor Lütfü Savaş in Hatay, one of the cities most affected by the February 6 earthquakes, continue.
Lütfü Savaş, who was protested by earthquake survivors on the anniversary of February 6, later announced in a statement that he would not withdraw his candidacy.
ÖZEL POINTS TO POLLS FOR SAVAŞ
CHP leader Özgür Özel, regarding Savaş's candidacy, stated, "If we see something in the polls, we will intervene."
CHP's mayoral candidates were discussed on the program "Sansürsüz" (Uncensored), hosted by Sinem Fıstıkoğlu on Halk TV.
Ideapolitik Institute Director Can Kakışım stated that Savaş's candidacy would also affect the votes of Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mansur Yavaş, and Cemil Tugay, assessing that "CHP's moral superiority will be damaged."
Democrat Party Istanbul MP Cemal Enginyurt, who entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the Republican People's Party lists in the May 14 elections, reacted by asking, "What do you mean by immorality?"
Correcting his words, Can Kakışım reminded everyone of the statements Savaş made after the earthquake disaster aimed at protecting contractors.
"YOU MADE THE MAN WHO OPENED THE BAYS TO THE QUINTET GANG A METROPOLITAN CANDIDATE"
Upon this, Cemal Enginyurt pointed to CHP's Muğla Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Ahmet Aras, saying, "CHP made the man who opened the bays to the quintet gang a metropolitan candidate."
Enginyurt, who spoke without naming names at the beginning of his speech, said the following;
"You took someone who was a mayor in a tourism district, established close relations with the quintet gang, and allocated the bays to the quintet gang—someone who would not be able to get elected if he were a candidate from that district—and made him a metropolitan candidate. Ahmet Aras received the fewest votes in the satisfaction survey. You took the man and made him a candidate in Muğla now; has your problem become Lütfü Savaş?
Ahmet Aras would not have been elected in Bodrum. He was nominated in Muğla through cronyism. Whoever you put against Aydın Ayaydın (the AKP candidate) would win. But CHP is making the election so difficult that it has provided an opportunity for Aydın Ayaydın there."
