The question that angered IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener: 'I apologize to you all for not getting permission from our press members'

IYI Party leader Akşener was asked by journalists following her party's parliamentary group meeting about allegations that she met with Sinan Aygün, Cemil Çiçek, and Abdülkadir Aksu at the Togo Towers and offered Aygün a mayoral candidacy.

Stating that she would not answer the question, Akşener used the following expression: "I apologize to you all for not getting permission from our press members. From now on, for every person I meet, I will ask you, 'Do you give me permission?' What a great disrespect. A great disrespect. There is no secret meeting, there is nothing."

Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu noted the following regarding the same question:

"We are surprised that a dinner that took place within the framework of courtesy has been turned into such an issue. I would like to underline that those allegations regarding the candidacy put forward are completely untrue. Our work regarding Ankara continues. Hopefully, when it matures in the coming days, we will share it with you."
