Trustee appointed to Şişli Municipality! Posters of İmamoğlu and Şahan removed
Following the arrest of Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan as part of a 'city consensus' investigation, a trustee has been appointed to the Şişli Municipality. As posters around the municipality were collected, images of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Şahan began to be removed.
A terrorism and corruption investigation has been launched against 106 people, including IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and various district mayors. The individuals, who were detained on March 19, appeared before a judge yesterday, and arrests were made. While İmamoğlu was arrested as part of the corruption investigation, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan was arrested on terrorism charges and sent to prison.
The Ministry of Interior has appointed Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen as the trustee. While the decision sparked reactions from citizens, the area around the Şişli Municipality has been placed under a police blockade.
