Ümit Özdağ calls for the restoration of military hospitals and the military health system

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ made assessments regarding the current agenda during a visit to Gümüşhane. While offering his condolences to the families of our martyrs, Özdağ made an important assessment regarding the military hospitals that were closed during the AKP era.

Speaking about the martyrdom of six of our soldiers, Ümit Özdağ said the following:

Today is unfortunately a dark day for the Turkish nation. We have martyrs, wounded, and veterans following an attack on units affiliated with the Hakkari Mountain Commando Brigade in northern Iraq. One of them, all of whom are your children, is our brother İsmail Yazıcı from Şiran, Gümüşhane. May God have mercy on them all. We also wish our wounded a speedy recovery.

The information I have received regarding how this incident unfolded is that the PKK used long-range special weapons in this attack that they should not normally have in their possession. While it is not appropriate to go into too much technical detail on the matter in public, I hope that the details of the issue will be brought to the Turkish public by the authorities in the coming days and explained with full transparency.

"IT HAS BEEN DESTROYED BY THE AKP"

This despicable attack has revealed the reality that the Turkish Armed Forces must re-establish its military health system and military hospitals as soon as possible.

After the July 15 FETÖ coup attempt, for what reason—when even an army like the Swiss army, which has not fought for centuries, has military hospitals and a military health system—was the military health system of the Turkish army, which has the world's most experienced war surgeons, dismantled? In an unbelievable way, one of the best health systems in the world, built with years of experience and accumulation, has been destroyed by the AKP.

Now, former war surgeons and former military doctors have launched a campaign today and made a call to the government: “Let us help the Mehmetçik (Turkish soldier).” War surgery is a special field of expertise. Not every doctor is an expert in this field, nor can they be, nor should they be.

We currently have many very valuable war surgeons, most of whom were forced to go to the civilian sector. These people could perhaps save the lives of our children or ensure they survive with fewer limb losses. In the past, the following expression was used for the Diyarbakır Military Hospital: “Just bring them to the door alive, that is enough for us. We will handle the rest. We will keep them alive.”

"I FIND IT INAPPROPRIATE AND UNNECESSARY TO TALK ABOUT ANY OTHER SUBJECT"

As the circle around Turkey tightens and despicable attacks on our security forces and soldiers increase, and as it is understood that they will intensify in the coming period, what is the government waiting for to establish the military health system? How many more martyrs must be given?

Condolences to the Turkish nation, condolences to the Turkish Armed Forces. Condolences to the heroic soldiers of the Hakkari Mountain Commando Brigade. We hear that there are nearly 15 of our soldiers who were seriously wounded in this despicable attack. We wish them a speedy recovery from God.

I find it inappropriate and unnecessary to talk about any other subject today. Today at 14:00, Zafer Party provincial branches across Turkey stood in front of Atatürk statues and placed carnations in front of the statues in memory of our martyrs and veterans. We carried this out in Bayburt as well.
