Will there be a handover ceremony in the CHP? Özgür Özel announced: ‘We spoke with Kılıçdaroğlu…’

Republican People's Party Chairman Özgür Özel made statements after casting his vote in the Party Assembly (PM) and High Disciplinary Board (YDK) elections held on the second day of the 38th Ordinary Congress.

"WE HOPE IT WILL BE AN EXAMPLE FOR TURKEY"

Expressing that the CHP experienced a festival of democracy throughout the congress process that will set an example for all of Turkey, Özel said, “Yesterday, all of Turkey saw that a chairman can change through a democratic, multi-candidate race. This was a very important indicator for the CHP, for Turkey, and for democracy. Today, we experienced an election where the cadres who will manage the party, the Disciplinary Board, and the Party Assembly were elected through an open list system, where anyone who wishes can be a candidate, and where our delegates decide with their free will. We hope that this intra-party democracy in the Republican People's Party will be an example for all of Turkey. In the coming period, we will continue to both increase intra-party democracy and set an example for Turkey. We thank everyone who contributed to this festival of democracy. Long live the Republican People's Party, long live the Republic, long live democracy”.

“WE WILL HOLD A HANDOVER CEREMONY AFTER THE CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION"

When asked, “Have you had a meeting with Mr. Kemal?”, Özel gave the following answer:

“We spoke on the phone; in the coming days, after receiving the certificate of election, we will hold a handover ceremony together, in front of all of Turkey, in a manner befitting our party.”
